THE ITINERARY

DELHI - AGRA - KARAULI - JAIPUR - DELHI

Arrive in Delhi today. Delhi with its Old and New parts — each with its specific charm and glory — makes a very interesting city for its sustenance to medieval and modern cultures at the same time and space.

This morning you will visit the monuments of New Delhi - Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar and Lutyens’ buildings. In the afternoon, you will be taken for a tree walk in Lodhi Gardens. With its old trees, colourful shrubs and flowering plants, the garden is an amalgamation of a historic past encompassed within today’s Delhi.

This morning you will be driven to Agra (3.5 hours). After lunch, visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Later, you will be taken for Mughal Heritage Walk ending at Mehtab Bagh which offers views of the Taj Mahal from across the river.

Today you will be driven to Karauli (4 hours). The city of Karauli was officially founded in 1348 AD, however, legend has it that it was established by Raja Bijal pal Jadon, the 88th descendent of Lord Krishna, as far back as 995 AD. In the evening you will be taken for a walking tour of the city palace and local markets.

Peacocks

Enjoy a rural jeep safari today. The nearby Kaila Devi Sanctuary falls within the buffer zone of the Ranthambore National Park and is privy to occasional tiger sightings, besides being home to an abundance of other wildlife species.

Drive to Jaipur (3 hours). The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is known as the 'pink city' because of the pink paint applied to the buildings in its old walled city. Later in the day, enjoy Nahargarh Heritage Water Walk and learn about the architecture and history of ancient water structures.

This morning visit the Amber Fort, one of the more fascinating of Indian forts. After visiting the fort, you will be taken for Meena tribal walk that takes you to the old settlement of the Meena tribe and temples of the village.

Today you will explore Jaipur city – visiting the City Palace, Jantar Mantar (medieval observatory) and drive past Hawa Mahal. Afterwards, enjoy a walking tour through the labyrinth of colourful alleys where artisans make puppets, bangles, and other local handicrafts.

Today you will be driven to Delhi airport (5 hours) for your international onward flight.

We will be pleased to make additional arrangements and suggest things to see and places to stay should you wish to extend your stay in India. This could be a non-cycling tour as well. Ask us for add-on tours by writing to us here: contact@periplustravel.com
